Somebody Is Depending On My Yes!
At the heart of this powerful message lies a simple yet profound truth: our 'yes' to God is never just about us. Drawing from Luke 22:41-42, where Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemane, we encounter the ultimate example of surrender. Jesus asked the Father to remove the cup of suffering, yet concluded with those transformative words: 'Nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done.' This 'nevertheless' represents the breaking point where our human desires meet divine purpose. The message reminds us that saying yes to God means saying yes to purpose, even when we don't understand all the details. Like Abraham leaving his homeland for an unknown destination, or Mary accepting an impossible pregnancy, our obedience unfolds step by step. The sermon confronts us with an uncomfortable reality: our yes will be challenged, tested, and costly. We may lose friends, face ridicule, or walk through seasons of suffering. Yet someone is depending on our faithfulness. The testimony we build through perseverance becomes the lifeline for others struggling in their own faith journey. When we encounter backsliders and broken people, our steadfastness becomes their hope. God doesn't call the qualified; He qualifies the called through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our yes is a commitment that echoes through eternity, affecting not just our lives but the lives of those watching us navigate trials with grace.
